General information
Eesti Üliõpilaste Selts Põhjala on asutatud 13. novembril 1884 Peterburis eesti tudengite poolt. Ühenduse põhieesmärkideks said eesti kultuuri edendamine ning rahvusliku meelsuse säilitamine oma liikmete hulgas. Seetõttu sai Põhjala lipukirjaks "Töö isamaa kasuks" ja motoks "Non scholae, sed vitae discimus" - me ei õpi kooli, vaid elu jaoks.
